Introduced in 1958 the Canberra PR Mk.9 was purely a reconnaissance version of the original Canberra bomber. It was fitted with larger wings and the more powerful Avon engines (5103 kp). It had a range of 5870 km (3645 miles). This successful reconnaissance aircraft was deployed with two RAF squadrons (including the Falklands War,Afghanistan and Bosnia) and remained in active service until 2006.
