There are several reasons why we have enjoyed the Uno games, from a family point of view. They are easy to learn, they demand a bit more skill than simple dice games, they are nonetheless luck-based enough that a child is almost as likely to succeed as an adult (and nobody takes it too personally if they lose) and they aren't such epic games that you are likely to remember the result for more than five minutes after the end of the game.
